Funeral for a Friend (FFAF) are not named after the song by Elton John (which is easily one of the greatest rock songs ever written) but after a song by an American band called Planes mistaken for Stars which I’ve never heard of. FFAF certainly are the leading Welsh post-hardcore band and although they are big in the UK they have a rather small fan base in Germany. On the upside this makes it possible to see them in a medium sized venue.
Personally, I am psyched about this gig. I’ve been listening to this band for some time now and my only chance to see them in Berlin would have been a support act for some metal band last year. On the downside, neither The Blackout nor We are the Ocean (WATO) will support this show (they will for the rest of the tour). The Blackout have been scheduled for the Monster Bash festival which also takes place today while WATO are still doing their UK headline tour (they will be supporting Mayday Parade on the 10th of May though).
